In line with our One World strategy, Link is dedicated to addressing the environmental challenges of our business operations. Our goal is to minimise plastic use wherever possible. To celebrate Plastic Free July, we’re excited to showcase some great recent examples of how our efforts are creating value and making a positive impact by choosing to refuse single-use plastic from our operations.
Rejecting Plastic Packaging
Pernod Ricard is a longstanding and significant brand partner for Link. As we assist them in reaching their marketing objectives, we are equally focused on supporting their sustainability goals. One of Pernod Ricard’s key commitments in their 2030 sustainability roadmap is the introduction of Circular Making. In partnership with Pernod Ricard, Link has taken a stand against plastic packaging to foster the concept of circular making in the creation and delivery of their marketing materials.
Our collaboration led to the development of the Trolley & Weekender Bags project, which has successfully removed 100% of plastic packaging from our processes. This effort resulted in the elimination of 5 tonnes of plastic and a reduction of 212 tonnes in carbon emissions—equivalent to the greenhouse gas emissions from charging approximately 13,995,537 smartphones!
Sustainable Material Choices
In a recent project with a premium beer brand renowned in South Africa, Castle Lite, we took a major step towards sustainability by reimagining the traditional plastic ice bucket. We replaced plastic with galvanised metal, not only enhancing the durability and aesthetic appeal of the ice buckets but also significantly reducing plastic waste. This choice supports our commitment to making a positive environmental impact and promoting the use of more recycable materials in place of plastic.
Reducing Landfill Waste with RPET
Heineken, our long-standing client and strategic partner, is committed to achieving its 2030 Brew a Better World goals. A great recent example of this commitment is the switch from traditional Polyurethane cover notepads to Recycled Polyethylene (RPET) notepads for Heineken in the UK.
This change aligns with sustainable practices and offers a more cost-effective solution. By adopting RPET, Link has helped Heineken enhance its sustainability efforts while reducing costs. We are proud to support their environmental goals with this innovative approach, underscoring our commitment to creating value and making a positive impact.
Each small step we take adds up to a significant impact. Let’s continue to collaborate and refuse single-use plastic to achieve a plastic-free waste future. Happy Plastic Free July!
